Ecuador
Is the place of my ancestral home, a place that runs deep within my blood. Though I was born and raised in Australia, my Australian identity often felt more dominant in the way I thought, but never in how I felt. Growing up, I struggled with the divide I couldn’t fully understand. Being raised in an Ecuadorian household in Australia always felt a bit out of place, especially when I shared my customs with friends, knowing it would often end in laughter. So, I repressed that part of me—until my first trip back to Ecuador as a young adult. There, I found a vital connection to my identity and I began embracing the aspects of my culture that once felt odd to me. The photos here capture the life and beauty of the Andes, reflecting a journey of rediscovery and acceptance.
